Teaching and Learning with Audio
posted in Learn |I’m gonna talk about Audacity - one of the coolest freeware I have ever come across.
Audacity is a free, easy-to-use audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems. You can use Audacity to:
- Record live audio.
- Convert tapes and records into digital recordings or CDs.
- Edit Ogg Vorbis, MP3, and WAV sound files.
- Cut, copy, splice, and mix sounds together.
- Change the speed or pitch of a recording… and many more!
So how can we use Audacity for teaching and learning? Here are some suggestions.
- Language: spelling, reading, online interactive asynchronous dialogue
- Self-directed learning through listening to your content followed by a reflection exercise.
- Creating stories with embedded questions that prompts the learner to interact with the story.
- Record your voice instructions with background music and insert it into power point for a more engaging and authentic learning experience.
- Get your learners to upload their voice recordings as a presentation online.
- I’m sure you can think of more…
